Job Description:


The Controls Project Engineer will be tasked to develop and run capital and expense projects and to provide the necessary support so that operations becomes optimal, cost-effective, and safe while respecting product specifications and quality systems. They are the liaison between Development and Operations and play a big part in all product changes, launches, and special executions. This position will require the engineer be versed in mechanical, electrical and controls skills to be able to support machines.

  • Develop or modify HMI and PLC programs to meet needs of projects ( Proface HMI, Allen Bradley or Omron PLC experience preferred).
  • Provide electro-mechanical troubleshooting to support production and maintenance.
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams to provide expertise of automation and controls.
  • Manage small to medium projects from concept development through implementation and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support for packaging and filling systems.
  • Revise and develop electrical and mechanical drawings in CAD.
  • Develop project schedules in MS Project.
  • Project Management
    • Identify and manage risks for new or existing processes.
    • Communicate project scope, milestones, risks and opportunities to project team and management.


Experience and Skills:


  • BS or equivalent in engineering and/or controls.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to manage and execute projects with excellence for all processes and facility projects that are being executed either on site or at a supplier.
  • Delivery of manufacturing equipment and processes for new and existing products from raw material addition through final pack out.
  • Experience working with multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.) to meet project needs.
  • Effective communication with all affected parties on cost, delivery, schedule and training.
  • Reduction in process defects and downtime through controlled solutions.
  • Proven management of project schedules and capital planning processes.
  • Prior experience developing new piping and making system layouts.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, bend, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus.
