Job Description:

Summary:

The role is to provide engineering, project and laboratory management support for the Gorilla Research & Development team including new product development, test development, equipment sourcing and installation oversight. This person is a team player and the role requires development of abilities for cross-functional interactions both internally and externally with suppliers and customers. This role requires mechanical aptitude, problem solving capabilities and hands on project work in the areas of adhesives, tapes, coatings and sealants, bringing forward new technical insights based upon original ideas. This role requires training of test methods and product knowledge in support of sales, marketing and new employee orientation.

 

Duties:

  • Management of R&D projects in support of NPD, lab maintenance and upgrades.
  • Engineering support for NPD including prototyping, formulation and process validation, claims substantiation and communicating results and issues effectively to the team.
  • Support new test method development and validation, including equipment sourcing, designing fixturing and ensuring the test methods are robust.
  • Creation of test plans to encompass project goals efficiently and effectively, oversight of testing and accountability for completion.
  • Sales and Marketing support for demo creation and product knowledge.
  • Quality and Consumer Affairs liaison to enable effective knowledge transfer for new product launches and quality issues.
  • Understand performance and claims of all Gorilla products and top competitors in each Gorilla category.

 

 

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Industrial, Chemical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering + 1-2 years experiences or Associate Engineering degree with minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Candidate must possess ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with a strong attention to detail, ability to creatively solve issues as part of a team, assertiveness, integrity, innovation and creativity.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Written and verbal communication skills are required as this role interacts with all levels within the organization and outside suppliers and customers.
  • Skills is summarizing and reporting of test results, including report writing and presentations. Ability to use basic statistics to make sound conclusions.
  • Materials testing background is preferred including knowledge of lab equipment and processes.
  • Should be goal oriented, confident and able to work well under pressure.
  • Mechanically inclined - operation of lab equipment for maintenance, troubleshooting and product testing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and/or typed material and must have the ability to focus.
