Job Description:

Summary:

This position will coordinate production in a production area (group of production lines). Primary focus areas are Safety, Quality and Production. This person will coordinate continuously with supervisors, planners, line leads, material handlers, quality and inventory specialists. This person will have process expertise in the areas they are overseeing, as well as outstanding communication and coordination skills. On a daily basis, this person will coordinate with their supervisor, planner and line leads, to ensure all are aligned, per the production schedule. This person takes a weekly production schedule and turns it into a daily production schedule for their area. This person will complete daily hand written and electronic paperwork. This person will coordinate an area of approximately 50 people, with some being temporary employees. It is important this person be flexible and capable of coordinating a large group, with production schedules that can change quickly.

 

Duties:

  • Ensure safety is the priority. In the event a safety issue or question arises, it will take priority over everything else on the production line.
  • Ensure all safety guidelines are followed by you and each member of the team and that all safety violations are reported/corrected properly and immediately.
  • Ensure that quality/quantity requirements are met on all orders.
  • Work with the production supervisor to ensure employee issues are promptly resolved.
  • Coordinate with the production planner and lines leads to ensure the correct products are scheduled at the correct times.
  • Provide assistance and input as necessary on NCR’s.
  • Provide input to supervisor on employee reviews.
  • Oversee training of each employee in the department and ensure someone is able to back up team lead and is fully trained in team leads absence to handle all needed tasks and responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in corporate and team events and activities including continuous improvements, health fairs, employee of the month and other events promoting teamwork and comradery.
  • Monitor labor according to daily schedule and department needs.
  • Provide input to supervisor on issues or needs.
  • Coordinate area in supervisor’s absence.
  • Enter data into Excel spreadsheets and/or Great Plains for department measurements and inventory.
  • Use RF Scanning devices/Fascor Webtools to check status of inventory.
  • Communicate proactively and in a positive manner.
  • Complete all assigned training and ensure employees in your area complete assigned training.
  • Provide coverage on overtime days.
  • Coordinate for supervisor in their absence.
  • Fill in for supervisor for administrative tasks on a temporary basis, such as riteTIME review and Paylocity review.

Experience and Skills:

Education:

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years previous team leader or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Team Lead communication classes complete.
  • Train the trainer certified.
  • Team Leader 1 or equivalent 1 year experience.
  • Basic Outlook or equivalent experience/training.
  • Intermediate MS Office experience/training.
  • Supervisor level communication/teamwork classes complete.

 

Skills:

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to operate and perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical equipment.
  • Should be goal oriented, confident, outgoing, and able to work well under pressure and succeed within a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrate good decision making.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative.
  • Good computer and writing skills are necessary in Outlook. Must have the ability to look up part numbers, be able to complete, read and comprehend standard Excel documents, and be able to enter data into basic spreadsheets.
  • Must have the ability to read, understand and train people on using QCS documents.
  • Must have the ability to read, understand and train people on using Pick Lists.
  • Good attendance is mandatory.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds of material, boxes, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus.
